Race Profile: Sunshine State Races

Tonight’s choice for a race to profile was an easy one. You may recall in my post about my 2012 race schedule I mentioned not having any races scheduled for February. Not long after posting that I received a message from Sunshine State Races to say they had great races in February.

Unfortunately, as much as I would like to, heading to Florida in February is not an option for me this year but I decided to have a look anyway. The races take place in West Palm Beach. They have a half-marathon and a 5 km race.

The only reason I knew of West Palm Beach before is because the Montreal Expos used to hold their spring training there when I started following baseball – I know funny that my knowledge of a place in Florida is based on the fact a now defunct baseball team used to train there.

After having a look I must say that if I could I would certainly be up for doing the half-marathon next month. The course looks like a relatively flat one along the waterfront. You can have a look at the course map here.

I can’t post any race reviews because from what I can tell this is a first-year event but if you are looking for a warm weather race during the middle of the winter this looks like a good option to me. A fast race in the morning followed by recovery on the beach sounds like a good time to me!

If you are running this race I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.
