Now that we are into May I am down to the last four weeks of my training for the Ottawa Marathon. At 20 weeks this will be the longest marathon training cycle for me .
My coach sent me my final four weeks of training earlier this week. What remains are two more full weeks of training followed by two weeks of tapering.
In terms of long runs, I have a 28 km and 32 km runs left to go the next two weekends. The 32 km run will provide one last opportunity to test my race day routine.
In terms of my cross training, my strength training has come to an end. For this last month I will only be continuing my stretching and mobility exercises three times a week.
The goal for these last four weeks will be to continue working on speed but also to ensure I get enough rest and don’t get myself injured before race day.
