Week two of training is nearly complete. So far I have managed 4 runs for a total of 41 km this week. I will get in my final run of week two tomorrow morning. The plan is for a 10-12 km run which would leave me with similar to mileage to last week.
The week got off to a good start with a 16 km run. It was my first attempt at getting up at the crack of dawn to attempt a long run while my family was still asleep. Since I could not fit in the run on Sunday I got up and completed my run before work Monday morning beforhead had to get ready for work.
The second key workout to the week was Wednesday night’s effort at the dome. Instead of intervals this week we decided to mix it up and run 8 km at close to race pace. For me it ended up being 8 km in 34 minutes.
The only downside to this week’s training was that I had hoped to get in a few more miles but after taking a rest day Tuesday and then not being able to get in a run today that was not possible. Next week I’ll look to increase my mileage. In order to get there I will plan to get in an extra run at lunch one day.
Week three kicks off with a 19 km run Sunday morning.
