Week 1 of Training for the Ottawa Marathon

Training for the 2013 Ottawa Marathon is underway! Week one of my 16 weeks of training for the Ottawa Marathon is nearly complete. I’ve managed five runs so far this week and am planning another one tomorrow morning to end the week.

This week was a good start to my training. I managed to get in a good tempo run on Monday and on Thursday had my best interval session of the year so far. The only downside to my week was that time prevented me from getting in a long run Sunday but I am pleased with the way the rest of the week went and will make up for it in week 2.

As mentioned already Thursday night’s run was my best interval session of the year so far. I am not sure if it was the chosen workout, a ladder workout, and the fact that we did a bit more mileage this week but it felt like a strong workout that left me feeling that my winter intervals at the dome are going to benefit me later on in the year.

Week two kicks off with a 19 km run Sunday morning. Other than that which will cause my overall mileage for the week to increase my plan for week two will be similar this week’s plan.

How did your training go this week?
