Marathon number six has come and gone for me. I still find this video funny after running a marathon .
While I am a little stiff today I don’t feel nearly as bad as any of the people depicted in the video. For me today the biggest reminder that I ran a marathon yesterday was the feeling in my calf muscles when going down stairs. Other than that I would say I am recovering pretty well. I should be able to get in an easy run later in the week was the case after all but my first marathon.
Of course now that my goal race for the first half of the year is complete the question now becomes what next? I purposely did not look beyond the Ottawa Marathon in an effort to stay focused on being as ready for it as I could. The only other race on my schedule was a plan to pace the Army Run half-marathon again in September.
In the span of 24 hours I have now come up with a fall training plan for another marathon. The Toronto Waterfront Marathon In October. The reason I chose this one? It is relatively close to home, flat and the fact that I received a Facebook message yesterday advertising the fact that the cost of registration goes up after tonight.
Training for that will start soon. As was the case with my Ottawa Marathon training, I’ll use my Friday posts to post weekly updates of my 16 weeks of training.
