I have not had an opportunity to put one of these together for a few weeks and thought I would get back at it tonight. The 2011 race season is nearly over but tonight I am writing about one of the first big marathons taking place in 2012, the Houston Marathon.
The Houston Marathon on the 15th of January. Unfortunately, if you have not already registered you are out of luck this time around as it sold out only a few weeks after registration opened.
If you did not have a chance to read it, the last edition of Runner’s World rated the Houston Marathon one of their picks for 10 fast marathons in 2012 because of the flat course it offers. If you are looking for a fast time and an event with great crowd support this may be one to keep an eye on for 2013.
One initiative that caught my eye when reading about this event is their Green Initiative to reduce the environmental footprint of the event. I think it is great to see marathons participate in initiatives like this because if you have run a race before you know they can produce a lot of waste.
As always, if you want more information about this marathon you can read some race reviews here.
Have you run the Houston Marathon or do you plan to run it in the future?
