What Next?

The Philadelphia Marathon was the big race I was looking forward to and gearing all my training toward so far this year. For that reason I had not looked at doing any races after Philadelphia.

For the first time in a while I don’t have any upcoming races scheduled. It’s not that I did not want to do any other races this year but that I was so focused on Philadelphia. Who knows I may end up doing a shorter race here next month at this point I am not really thinking about it.

I’ll probably get back to running later this week, starting with some shorter easy runs, just running for myself without any particular goals in mind.

In terms of marathons, I plan to do another one. I have not given up on my goal of qualifying for Boston and plan to continue to work at it.

I haven’t decided yet but the most likely option would be to go for it at the Ottawa Marathon in May since I wouldn’t have to travel anywhere. For now I don’t have to rush the decision so I’ll take some time to consider options.

How soon do you look to register for your next race after completing your goal race for the year?

  1. I often find myself in a “what’s next” rush frame of mind after any race, but after I calm down and take time to actually think, I realize how nice a break from hardcore running is. That said, don’t wait too long to figure out what to do.

    1. That’s about where I am at right now David. The break will be nice for now but I won’t take too long to figure out what’s next. I need another goal to keep me going.
