Tonight I am profiling a smaller marathon. It is one that took place just this past weekend. Tonight’s profile is of the Green Mountain Marathon in Vermont.
The Green Mountain Marathon takes place on an island in Lake Champlain. The course is an out and back course running from South Hero to Grand Isle then back to South Hero. You can check out the course map here.
I’ve been to Vermont a couple of times for ski trips. Since Vermont is only a few hours away from home I could see myself doing this one in the future. If you are looking for a small, scenic and rural race to run this one would definitely be a good choice.
If you do go and you are a fan of craft beer like I am make sure to stop by the Magic Hat brewery in South Burlington. My wife and I were drawn there by an ad in a tourist brochure that claimed they made the best beer in the world and we were not disappointed.
As always, if you are interested in more info you can read some race reviews here.
Have you run this marathon before? Is it one you would consider?
