The search for a unique marathon to profile tonight led me to one that bills itself as the “coolest marathon on earth”. Tonight’s profile is of the Polar Circle Marathon which takes place in Greenland.
The Polar Circle Marathon takes place in Kangerlussuaq which is just north of the Polar Circle. The terrain involves running on gravel road as well as the ice cap. Given the location of this one you might expect it to be cold but the average temperature for the race is actually -5 C  or 25 F.
It seems to be a common theme with a lot of the marathons I have profiled but once again this is not a course for you to expect a personal best. A look at the elevation profile of the course tells you perhaps the most important thing you need to know about this marathon, it is hilly…
As always, if you want to more information you can head here to read some reviews.
What do you think? Is this a marathon you could see yourself running?
