As you can guess from the picture above, the theme of tonight’s post is a Seinfeld reference. If you are a fan of the show you’ll remember the bizarro world episode where Elaine meets a new group of friends who look similar to Jerry, George and Kramer but are complete opposites of them.
You might wonder what this has to do with running? Well as I ran home tonight, a series of events made me think of this episode .
First of all, it had been an overcast and miserable day for most of the day. Fast forward to about an hour before I left work and suddenly there was hardly a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining brightly. It was the complete opposite of what I was expecting earlier in the day.
As soon as I started running I realized that this evening was one of those late summer evenings where the weather is perfect for a run because the sun is out and it is warm but not too hot for a run. It was one of those evenings where once I get going I feel like I can run for hours at a steady pace because the weather is perfect.
That’s not the only reason I felt like I was running in a bizarro world. I’ve written before about my issues with Ottawa drivers but tonight for some reason I had a completely different experience.
First I had a taxi stop to let me cross at a crosswalk then not long after I had a driver of a full-size suv who was talking on his cellphone stop so I could cross at another crosswalk. Normally these would be two types of drivers I would have to watch out for the most but for some reason tonight these two drivers turned out to be the most considerate.
I’m not sure what it was that made everything go my way as I ran home tonight but I certainly enjoyed my run in the bizarro world!
Do you ever find yourself running in a bizarro world?
