Running with a Toddler

I’ve written a number of times about the fact that I bring my daughter along for many of my weekend runs. It is a great way to be able to spend more time with your child and/or give your spouse a break.

One of the most important things about running with a toddler in a stroller is making sure that you are able to keep them entertained for the run, unless they sleep through most of it in which case you don’t have to worry about it.

I generally make sure that I pack snacks and occasionally I plan to take a route where I know there will be something interesting for her to see. For example we have stopped to feed the ducks along the river.

Yesterday I decided to take her through the Central Experimental Farm and see the cows in the field.

Along the way we stopped to see some ducks in a swampy area along the bike path we were following…

When we made it to the farm there were a few cows out in the field. I had to wake up my daughter so she could see them but she quite enjoyed getting out of the stroller to walk around and see the cows that were there.

Finally, here is a shot of the farm to show you that it really is in the center of the city.
