Sunday Thoughts

This morning’s run was scheduled to be 25 km. Despite the cool and rainy weather, I headed out with my daughter in her Chariot around 9:00.

Fortunately for me the rain ended not long after we left. I decided to run the new parts of the first half of this year’s Ottawa Marathon course. The second half of the run took us down th Ottawa River Parkway where a family of Canada geese caught my daughter’s attention for a few minutes.

At that point we ended up heading home leaving us with 21.5 km completed in 1:56. I intended to leave myself with a few extra km so I could head back out later in the day and give my new race flats a spin around the neighbourhood in order to see how they feel.

However, after an afternoon of work in the garden I had neither the energy nor the desire to head back out. That is just as well, my legs could probably use the rest tonight.

As for the aforementioned race flats, in case you are wondering, I bought a pair of Mizuno Wave Ronin 3 yesterday. I am looking for to getting a run in them in order to see how they feel. I will also get a few more runs in them over the final two weeks of my training.

Finally, since I am mentioning my new shoes here I should also mention my new sunglasses. You may recall that I won a pair of Ryders sunglasses in a giveaway on 26.2 Quest. I was able to try them out this week before the rain and the clouds showed up. I must say I like them so far. The lenses are polarized, are not too dark and they don’t slide on my face when I start to sweat.
