As mentioned Friday, my plan for this weekend was to buy a new pair of shoes. I managed to go shopping today. As planned, I inquired about race flats as well as my usual trainers.
For now I ended up sticking with a pair of trainers and decided to buy a pair of New Balance 860 which replaced the previous model I had been using.
I managed to get out for a run in them tonight and they felt good. Similar to my previous New Balance trainers.
However, the exciting news for me is that based on advice i received at the store, I am planning to buy a pair of race flats a couple of weeks before the Ottawa Marathon. This will give me time to wear them for a longer run and during my taper without putting too much wear on them since I am used to wearing a heel strike shoe.
When I go to buy a pair of race flats I will be looking at something like the Mizuno Musha 3 in the hopes that they will help me shave a couple of minutes off my finish time.
Stay tuned for more details in a few weeks when I go back and buy a pair!
Probably a good choice to stick with the NB since they’ve been working well!
So far so good with the 860. They have a similar feel to the 760.
I am looking forward to trying out a pair of race flats in a couple weeks.
