Since my first marathon profiles were about marathons that I might end up trying some day I thought tonight would be a good time to write about one that I would like to do but likely will not get the opportunity to do.
Tonight’s profile is the Great Wall Marathon. I think this one is pretty self explanatory. How cool would it be to travel to China and get to run along one of the Wonders of the World?
As you can imagine, this is certainly not an easy course where you can expect a personal best time. There are many steep ascents and descents and the wall section of the course involves 5,164 stone steps!
If that doesn’t give you an indication of how tought the course is maybe this will. The course record for men is 3:18 for men and the course record for women is 4:09.
Personally I think this one would be worth it just for the opportunity to run along the Great Wall of China. Like I said I probably won’t get the opportunity to do this marathon but it is fun to think of.
If I have peaked your interest in this marathon head on over here for a detailed description of the course as well as registration information.
